Front Foyer Ideas For My Neighbour Client

One of my recent projects was to help put together some front foyer ideas for my neighbour who lives across the street from me. Totally convenient! We’re in a very new subdivision and both of us are enjoying this new community, having come from country living experiences.

I get excited every time I start on a new project. There’s the wonder of what the people will be like and if we will work well together, and of course I hope I can deliver what they’re asking for. Every time - and I hope it’s like this forever - I get butterflies on my first visit when I reach to knock on the front door, never knowing what lies beyond.

A Modern Foyer Design

Reworking some of the pieces they already had, we created a more transitional contemporary look. It involved some custom paint colour mixing sessions that were so much fun. It’s important to express your own personal style at this important first impression space that welcomes guests to your home.

Front Foyer Area Rug

I’ve put together a little video of the finished project that I hope you’ll enjoy. I neglected to mention two things while shooting it. I think it’s safe to say that we all want durable entryway rugs. This very pretty one we agreed on is from Ruggables, an online company that carries a beautiful line of washable rugs and runners. Having seen them up-close and personal, I can attest to the quality and beauty of these ingenious washable rugs.

It’s absolutely true - the top mat goes right in your washing machine, while the under-pad stays put, waiting for the clean mat to return. They’re the perfect solution for heavy traffic areas, houses with little people who spill, our four legged house mates, and whatever else life might throw your way.

The second mention is that this client is an artist. Please take note of the second art piece I added beneath an existing one in the living room (you’ll figure it out) to create a more balanced vignette. The lower picture we added is one she crafted herself. So beautiful!
