Asphodel-Norwood Library Reno

I had the distinct pleasure of helping the Asphodel-Norwood Public Library with their renovation and decor changes. It was a great opportunity for me to meet some new faces in our “new-to-us” community, while helping to influence the decor and design decisions of their project.

The funding came through a grant that specified mandatory criteria affecting the choices that were made, and we still wanted to make it pleasing to the eye. Working with Kris Van Luven – CEO/Head Librarian, we kept these two issues at hand every step along the way to a beautiful end result.

A little tidbit of interest was learning that the Asphodel-Norwood Library is a Carnegie Library. What’s a Carnegie Library you ask? Our Librarian, Kris, gives us a little explanation in the reveal video, second one below.

This library is a hard working space, hosting several programs and meeting many needs for its patrons and several community groups. It was exciting to know the changes made would be affecting so many.

I grabbed a few quick “before” shots and put this clip together to show you how things looked when I came on the scene. At that point, some of the initial design and furnishing options had been considered. I was able to give the nod and/or redirect the choices along the way. We needed to bring in a new paint palette, carpeting, lighting, furnishings, and repurpose many existing pieces while defining zones and function of space.

This after video speaks for itself, showing you all the changes that were made. It’s such an inviting space to visit.
