Biophillic Decor And Design
/What Is Biophillic Design?
In a nutshell, biophillic design and decor is the use of nature elements purposely built into the design and decor plan of a home. It’s all about creating spaces where we thrive and restore. This design style will positively enhance our health and well-being whenever we use the space.
Human beings are innately connected to nature and living things. We have a longing for natural settings. I think it’s how God planned it.
However, our world has changed from the time of our humble beginnings in nature. We’re surrounded by cities with concrete buildings, and stretches of paved multi-lane highways. And of course, a good part of our day is spent on our devices, whether to communicate or play virtual games.
Taking this into consideration, it makes total sense to include nature connections in the design and decor of our spaces, where we live, work and play. It’s the perfect way to nurture our health and wellness amongst the concrete and devices that we can’t avoid.
Biophillic Design Benefits
Design benefits incorporating biophillia decor are measurable in reducing anxiety and stress, helping us heal faster, improving positive moods and emotions, while increasing cognitive performance and creativity. I love anything that will help my creative process.
Our brains respond to our surroundings. I can create or redesign your home to affect your good health. As a design professional, that’s exciting news to share with my clients and to bring to each project.

Home Decor Trends 2021
We’re seeing an increase in biophillic design principles like neutral earthy colour palettes and softer curves in furniture pieces that suggest more natural contours.
Eco-decor that encourages the sustainability of repurposed and responsibly sourced items is of greater importance to decorators, designers and their clients. We are more aware of our fragile world and the effects of climate change than ever before.
We’re gravitating towards organic textures, greenery, wood, fire and stone elements that bring the nature relationship to our homes and workspaces. They bring a sense of calm, help us to focus and concentrate, and to be more productive overall.
Biophillic home decor and design is good for us and it’s here to stay.
