Some 2019 Design Trends
/Here’s an interesting article I thought I’d share that highlights “10 Daring Design Trends” predicted to be seen ‘everywhere’ in 2019.
My thoughts as I read through -
I’m all for drama, in moderation, and mixing things up sounds like a fun way to bring interest to a space. Having said that, I don’t think I could do pink kitchen cabinets.
It’s so funny reading these predictions. Last week we read one that said “blush pink” was on it’s way out, but apparently “pale millennial” pink is in.
I love artisan pieces and the article clearly says “This will be the year of the craftsperson.” Yay!
Warm neutrals have definitely been coming back over the last year or more. I believe grey will always be with us - it’s too classic not to have in a palette and makes the perfect backdrop.
Moving to the warm greys is a “yes” and we’ve seen a big interest in greige paint - grey/beige combined. Consider Sherwin Williams “Mega Greige” or “Perfect Greige” or Benjamin Moore “Revere Pewter” known as the perfect of warm and cool that complements almost any accent colour you put with it.
Tweed upholstery is a personal favourite for me. I think it’s a classic, timeless look with it’s warm texture and palette.
Terrazzo is coming back. My first thought were the terrazzo floors in grade school. I’m not a big fan to be honest. However, the photo example in the article shows it on a bathroom wall and it’s not at all like the old floors I’m remembering.
Geometric tiles have been here for several years now and they really are so pretty. They bring a big impact to a space and the article tells us how to get variations with grout.
Black kitchen cabinets - love it!
Curvy furniture, if you have the space, definitely invites intimacy.
Big, bold florals are still strong.
We don’t have dogs, but if we did I’d die for a dog shower like the one shown! We used to do our little guy in the basement bathroom where we both made a huge mess. He loved it when it was over and he’d could run through the house in excited victory, stopping to shake with no regard for the furniture and decor around him. Pure fun!
This will be my last post for 2018. I appreciate each of you immensely. Thanks for following and have a very Merry Christmas. Wishing you joy and peace and all good things for 2019.
Here’s the article - enjoy!
